Often repository relocations and major renovations are one of the most difficult challenges faced by archivists during their careers. This session will offer a panel discussion from colleagues who have had to undertake a major relocation, and will be sharing their practical knowledge, experience, and “How To” information on how to complete a successful moving project. Discussion will be offered on working with facilities (Facilities Manager); Creating and designing staff workspace, Appropriate storage space for collections; Dean’s Office, and Library/Campus IT Department, Budget Creation, and Working with Outside Vendors, particularly if planning to use a local moving company over one’s own facilities department. Participants will present on their personal experiences of recent library moves from Central Washington University, and renovation and storage planning at the University of Arizona Libraries.
