The 2019 Society of American Archivists Annual meeting schedule initially featured a brown bag on a pre-publication article from The American Archivist entitled “To Everything There is a Season” by Frank Boles. The Program Committee and SAA Council ultimately decided not to hold the brown bag, stating that the article ran counter to Council’s focus on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all attendees. This session will focus its attention less on the article itself, though that will be available for discussion, than on the systems that led to the (pre)publication of the article, and how our professional literature does - and in some cases, does not - support equity, diversity, and inclusion
